Camp 2

Displaying P1020915.JPG

The bright lights covered the big city like a sheet. The glassy water casted reflections of the flash firis that formed around the port. The sky turned dark and the first star appeared over our heads. The crescent shaped moon watched down on us like a guardian. My eyes squinted with tiredness. The cold breeze crept into my nose as I inhaled. I looked around at my fellow students. Their red eyes squinted at the amazing sight.  The lampposts lined up in a row surrounding the roads that ran through the city. The grass waved at us as we moved slowly towards the edge of the cliff. My shaking hands dug around in my pockets to find some warmth. The water sat still wrapping around the posts of the wharf.

Camp

P1000220.JPG

The bright sun peered over the puffy clouds and sat softly on the sparkly water. I casted my dark blue eyes into the distance. There sat a small deserted piece of land. My blonde hair whipped across my pale face as my head hung staring into the blue liquid. My head was screaming at me to jump into the clear water and chase after the boat. The big blue monster was abandoning a trail of white bubbles leaving them to sink down to the bottom of the dark ocean.

Free writing

Her eyes were as cold as ice. Her dark blonde hair lay down on her shoulder. Her small head pressed against the the ragged brick wall. Her lips stayed still in a straight line. Her hands were shaking with fear. What if they came back?. Her head screaming out for someone to help but no one heard her. Her mind screamed out again but still no one came. Her long grey sleeves  covered her thin wrists. Her sad and cold emotions were hidden behind her motionless face. Dark rings formed around her eyes showing signs of neglect and fear. She wasn't going back.
On Fridays we have free writing when we can write about any thing in our imaginations. I chose a picture and decided to describe it. I like this peice because I really described how the person was feeling.

The cube

As I walked in through the double glass doors the smell of chlorinated water whipped into my nose. It was too late to turn back now. I was here for a reason. My head was yelling at me to get  in the water. I ignored it. The clear water was casting a reflection of the millions of people in the stands. Red, white and blue flags stretched across the large pool. I raced into the bathroom to get changed. I opened the door and millions of eyes were cast on me. They were whispering. I had exited out of the changing rooms in my pitch black togs with a big white  fern wrapping around my waist.

The leadership conference

We took our seats and waited for the first speaker to enter onto the stage.
We listened to three speakers and then the last speaker entered onto the stage.

He was the head boy from HBHS named Joe. He told me that everything thing makes a difference no matter how small. And that we can choose our attitudes and you can also change your attitude. He spoke in a very well thought out and motivating way. He spoke to us as young leaders. It was a day full of interesting presentations.

Electronics

The Senior students from our school go to HNI every Thursday and this is what I did.

Buddy writing

They grey cat swam across the cold, sparkly blue pool. Her tail was swishing behind her. Her paws were as soft as feathers. Her ears are as pointy as a cone. Her eyes were as green as grass. Her nose was as pink as a rose. The water was moving around the soft, grey cat and was as blue as the sea. She tried hard to get to the other side.

My buddy, Georgia aged 6, and I created a story relating to the picture. We had to write a descriptive piece with things such as similes, metaphors and personification.

Who am I?

I glanced over the heads of fifty or so children as something caught my eye. It was picture. It seemed to have the same works in it that were surrounding me. I walked slowly towards the painting. My feet clicked along the bare floor. I stood in front of the exhibit. As my figure came into the picture, Hayley walked up beside me and her reflection showed up in it as well. Our motionless bodies stood staring. I raised my hand and my figure did so too. Our eyes widened every second. One minute passed when we realised it was a mirror.

Elections

This week we have been focusing on elections. We have discovered an app called Coggle. We have used it to create the polices of all the partys. I enjoyed learning about elections because I didn't really have any idea about elections and now I do.

The Jump

I was going to do it. I was going to jump. Maybe.

Something was stopping me. Maybe it was the way the crystal clear water was lapping at the sides of the jagged cliff. Or that the ladder was about 1,000 metres long. That might of been a slight exaggeration but still it was a long way down. Suddenly, a loud yell broke my concentration. It was my older brother. He made it down so why couldn't I? My toes hung slightly over the edge. I took a deep breath. Make that a really deep breath. I jumped.

I opened my eyes. My head was whirling with doubt. What if I didn't make it? What would happen to my family? I wouldn't come back. Once I would go I would be gone. What about……………..
I just hit the the warm water with a splash. Six long seconds went by as small ripples that became bubbles rose to the surface. I gasped for air. I looked around and found myself in a large clear swimming hole with vines crawling up the edge of the cliff.

I took a breath and entered the blue water once again. Small electric blue streaks formed around me and disappeared at my every movement. My eyes squinting as the water washed out. I returned to the surface. My eyes were red and burning. The salt water entered my mouth. I wanted to spit it out but something came to mind. How was I going to get out? I was going to do it. I was going to climb the ladder. Maybe.

Science fair

In the past weeks we have been focusing hard on creating and completing a science investigation. I enjoyed testing out my different theroes and finding out what batteries last longest and the price differences. Next time I hope to gather
 more information and facts.

Tech arts

Lately in tech arts the year eight students in room three have been working hard on making a cam toy. They are made of wood and have at-least one type of movement that are controlled by cams that moves around. My toy is a tiger that's tail rotates in both directions with a field background.

Pablo Picasso

In room three at the moment we have been working on Pablo Picasso's paintings. The year seven and eights have been working hard on creating their own unusual artwork. The paintings are looking unique hanging from our classes' window. My art works name is called double identity and is full with colour. I named it this particular name because of it's face. It's face has been cut in half and given different expression and shape. We learned that in doing Picasso it doesn't have to look perfect.

My prayer

Dear God

Thank you for all the things you give, that help me to love, learn and live.
You are my Father, Lord and Saviour, you help me act with good behaviours. Help me to have a good day today, in all the things I do, think and say.
Amen

Tac's triathlon

A serge of excitement raged through my sweating body. The first biker came in sight. He raced to his partner and he darted to the pool. Several bikers later Caden came in sight. He tagged my shaking hand and I ran quickly to the pool. My pointed fingers  hit the glassy, blue water. I was off.

Stranded

Stranded

The bus screeched to a stop. “Everyone off!”Yelled the exhausted bus driver. The doors of the bus opened quickly and everyone rushed  out the doors in single file. I looked around . The pitch blackness surrounded my young body.Nothing around me looked familiar .The hedge had disappeared, Barry wasn't yapping and I realised this wasn't my house. It was a graveyard.

I entered under the old, arched sign that read ‘ Whatevers dead is deep down alive’. A sudden shiver ran up my bony spine. The old graveyard was filled with concrete blocks. But something that surprised me was that there were no flowers around the graves. My heart jolted as a hand touched my arched shoulders. I turned around suddenly to see a familiar face staring at me.

“What are doing here,” yelled Sophie.
“I ,I got lost,” I stuttered.
“Come on, everyone's been so worried,”she said softly.
We made our way back across the street where we found my house standing just where it was before.

What I like about this piece of writing is that it has lots of description about the surroundings. Something I can work on is using some of my other scenes.

The ant and the grasshopper

6.3.2014
The Ants and the Grasshopper

One summers day a Grasshopper was prancing around while a small ant was at work gathering food for the winter. The Grasshopper asked the ant if he wanted to play but he had to carry on with gathering food for the winter. Winter came and the Grasshopper was suffering from starvation. He went to see the Ant to see if he had some spare food for him. But the Ant said that was not his problem and there was nothing he could do for the Grasshopper.

Moral: Work hard so you can provide for the future.

The Navy band

A loud noise spread throughout the large hall.  High pitched screams came from the audience as lots of people dressed in smart uniforms darted to the stage. Lots of unfamiliar instruments were  carried in by tall men and woman. The instruments broke the silence in the room. A drumming noise came from the stage. The show began.
